Welcome to Catswhiskers Scotland!
Tell me about Scotland
Scotland is located north of England and roughly on the same latitude as Vancouver and Moscow. The chief geographic areas are the Highlands, Lowlands, Scottish Borders, Southern Uplands, and Scottish Islands (including Hebrides and Isle of Skye). The country is well endowed with Glens (valleys), more than 500 lochs (lakes) and over 100 rivers. The geology is diverse with some rocks dating back 3bn years. The population is about 5.0M whose ancestors trace back to the Gaels from Ireland, native Picts, Scandinavians from the Viking era, native Britons and Anglo-Saxons. English and Gaelic are official languages whilst the Doric dialect is spoken in the N.E.
